Abstract: This research explores the role of outdoor environments in enhancing early childhood education (ECE) experiences in Nigeria. The objectives are to examine how outdoor play and learning spaces contribute to physical health, cognitive development, and socio-emotional skills among young children, and to propose guidelines for designing inclusive outdoor environments. Employing a mixed-methods survey research design, this study justifies its approach by surveying educators, parents, and environmental specialists to gather perspectives on current practices and challenges in utilizing outdoor spaces. A purposive sample size of 250 participants ensures representation from urban and rural settings, capturing diverse geographical and socio-economic contexts across Nigeria. Cross River State is selected as the case study location, known for its ecological diversity and emphasis on nature-based learning initiatives. The reliability coefficient score will ensure data validity and reliability across qualitative and quantitative analyses. Findings are expected to inform policy recommendations and educational practices that promote sustainable and inclusive outdoor learning environments in Nigerian ECE settings.
